Reiterating Architecture with Rem Koolhaas forward
Reiterating Architecture in the Gulf is Brownbook’s recent publication created in light of the 14th International Architecture Exhibition at La Biennale di Venezia.
Documenting six case studies that skillfully evolve the historical built environment into the modern context, ‘Eadat Ta3reef’, meaning ‘redefine’, focuses on contemporary architectural vernaculars across the Gulf.
This publication is a result of research conducted by Brownbook and is presented in a conversational format with the intention of delivering a product that engages the reader in a dialogue with the contemporary professionals of the region. It does not seek to dictate the practice of architectural specialists, but rather to serve as a point of reference as to how modern development can still adhere to contextual necessities, traditions and values, while still maintaining it’s modern aesthetic.
Distributed at key architecture international bookshops, Reiterating Architecture in the Gulf was also launched at the 14th Architecture Biennale in Venice and showcased at the Bahrain, Kuwait and UAE Pavilions.
